Debt Consolidation And Credit
Most of us want a good credit report to obtain vehicle
financing, credit cards for emergencies and luxuries, and to
finance a home mortgage. However, beyond these consumer
loans, a great credit report makes your life easier.

What's a Good Credit Report Rating While each lender decides what credit score it considers a good risk, if you're credit score is generally 650 or better, you will probably be considered a good credit risk (meaning, you're likely to pay off a loan on time and in full), and you'll therefore qualify for a prime (i.e., desirable) interest rate. If your credit report rating is between 620 and 650, you may also be qualified for a desirable loan, but you may need to provide the lending institution with additional documentation to prove that you're creditworthy.

Check Credit Rating Having a credit card means that you can order tickets, rent a
car, and reserve hotel rooms. Your strong credit score makes
it easy for you to arrange cell phone service and necessary
utility services, without large deposits.

Improve Credit Rating Besides these conveniences, your credit report can mean that
you must pay high deposits and rates for everyday services.
Did you know that poor credit history can keep you from
getting utility connections, good telephone rates, the best
auto insurance, high-quality home owner's insurance, or even
prevent you from getting hired?

Your credit profile is very important in determining whether or not an application for credit is accepted or declined. There are two methods below that can help you and our Guide (at the top of this page) provides a further insight into credit scoring. Understand your credit rating and help improve your ability to get credit with your Equifax Credit Rating.

Credit Online Rating Report Some utility companies set minimum standards for service
connections. If your report shows collection accounts for
prior utility bills, you may not be eligible for service at
all. And if they do agree to connect your service, you'll
need to pay a higher deposit than another customer with good
credit, who may not need to make any deposit. The same
requirements exist for telephone services. People with high
credit scores don't need to pay deposits for home telephone
or cell phone services.

Progressive officials testified they only applied this model to new customers, not to renewing customers. This apparently meant that if you were initially covered by Progressive when you had a good credit rating, it would not hurt your renewal rate if your credit score went down. But if the opposite were true — you signed up when you had a bad credit rating but had since improved it — you were stuck at the less favorable rate, rated.

Credit Score Rating Scale What many people don't realize is that good credit enables
them to get better insurance rates. High-quality, low-cost
home owner's insurance, auto, and life insurance companies
set minimum credit standards for their policy holders. This
means that consumers with poor credit have to pay more for
less coverage. Many automobile insurance companies now base
monthly premiums on credit scores. These companies offer a
17% discount if your score is over 625 and a 25% discount if
your score is over 725. Why? Because according to consumer
surveys, people who care about their credit also take care of
their property and drive with caution.

The top row, right, describes a consumer with the highest underwriting rating ("A"), but whose status drops with her credit score (" MM"). Preferred rate. If her credit score is good or average, she gets the Preferred Rate, but if her credit score is below average, she gets the Standard rate. prime, Market rate, second from the lowest.

Bad Card Credit Credit People Terrible credit can cost you a job. More and more employers
look at a candidate's credit report and hire the person with
better credit, assuming that better credit equals better
integrity and character.

Don't wait until you need your credit to work on any
problems. Strong credit translates to personal reputation.
