Domination Hoping to reverse a European domination
that has stretched more than 20 years, the American Ryder Cup team
instead watched the Europeans thrash them with their golf clubs
into defeat. I think we played hard, Lehman said. I think we played
with a lot of heart. We just didn't get the putts to drop.

Golf Clubs Ryder Cup Celtic Manor Resort
On Friday, 28th September 2001, the Ryder Cup Committee
made an announcement that the 38th Ryder Cup Match would be held at
The Celtic Manor Resort golf club in Wales, in the autumn of
2010.
The Celtic Manor Resort is a five star luxury club hotel containing
400 rooms, 2 Championship golf courses and an academy course.
Although it is already a sophisticated complex, in preparation for
the world famous Ryder Cup, Celtic Manor will soon include a
purpose built venue which will meet the needs of both the players
and the spectators. The new course at Celtic Manor will be the very
first course that has ever been designed and constructed
specifically for the Ryder Cup.
By completion of the project, The Celtic Manor Resort will have
invested over 16 million in designing, developing and
constructing the new course, and the new golf clubhouse.
What Are The Aims Of The New Ryder Cup Course The
purpose built Ryder Cup golf course has taken almost five years to
construct. The aim of the course is to develop 18 holes that will
be the ultimate challenge for a team of the world's best golfers
and their clubs. The course was designed by European Golf Design
(EGD) under consultation from Robert Trent Jones Junior, the
architect who constructed the original Wentwood Hills course that
hosted the Celtic Manor Wales Open 5 times between 2000 and 2004.
The newly constructed Ryder Cup course is a par 71 and measures 7,
459 yards in length. It features 9 new holes and 9 holes that are
from the Wentwood Hills Championship Course which has been
extensively remodelled. Six of the course's signature holes feature
a water hazard; in fact the course includes a comprehensive amount
of water features that have been specifically designed to present
the golfer and his clubs, with the ultimate dilemma.
What Can The Spectators Expect From The Course The
new Ryder Cup golf course will be designed to accommodate over 35,
000 spectators whilst maintaining sophisticated facilities, for
example, the latest IT and information systems. It is proposed that
a purpose built golf clubhouse will also be provided for the
players. The designers of the course have worked hard to ensure
that the spectators will benefit from a large range of viewing
opportunities that will be better than any previous Ryder Cup
match. There is also a new road under construction which will
ensure that spectators will not suffer from traffic congestion.
The Ryder Cup Course plans to open in Autumn 2007 when it will host
the second Goodwill Trophy, the annual match play tournament
between Europe and America the two teams represented in the Ryder
Cup and a third international side selected from top playing clubs
throughout the rest of the world.

Golf Clubs Ryder Cup Cult of the Individual
Was a lack of team work the problem behind America 's
losing golf clubs at the 2006 Ryder Cup
Cult of celebrity Tiger Woods is the number one
player in the world, his cult of celebrity and individual success
is phenomenal. So is the cult of the individual behind the losing
streak we Americans have been experiencing every time we bring our
golf clubs to the Ryder Cup
Team unity Our 2006
American captain Tom Lehman was clearly aware of the power an
individual like Tiger Woods yields over his golf clubs at team
events like the Ryder Cup. Lehman made him sing along with his 11
team mates at an Irish barbecue before the tournament. Even if,
according to his captain, Woods can't sing for toffee. Lehman felt
strongly that Europe have had the advantage of team unity and this
was something he was eager to correct when his team picked up their
golf clubs for the 2006 Ryder Cup.
Tiger's gone to great lengths, I think, to make other people feel
comfortable with him, and vice versa. He's been doing a great job,
Lehman told the press.
Singing golfers The singing
was part of Lehman's strategy to ensure his team have fun together
to help them bond. But despite the singing, the American team still
bowed their golf clubs in defeat at this year's Ryder Cup.
Individual players
Some critics blamed not their team spirit but team work. Veteran
golfer David Toms felt the individual pairings didn't pick each
other up well. Some of the world's top sportsmen ever to pick up a
set of golf clubs were clearly disappointing when it came to their
team performance at the Ryder Cup. Phil Mickelson, the world's
number two recorded just half a point from five matches.
I felt like a lot of our guys played pretty good golf individually
this week, said Toms after the golf clubs had been laid down and
the post mortem over the Ryder Cup 2006 began. As a team we just
didn't seem to play great at times. We just didn't pick each other
up when we needed to like they did.
British weather As well as the teamwork, our
American team blamed the British weather. The boggy conditions were
something the Europeans were used to. If it had been a dry course
to swing their golf clubs on, the result for our boys in the 2006
Ryder Cup could have been completely different. A division of

Springs, California, we have been making quality sporting goods for

Golf Clubs Ryder Cup Europe Breaks Records
Europe swung their golf clubs into history as they beat the
US in the 2006 Ryder Cup the third win in a row.
Hat-trick For the first time in history, Europe
won the Ryder Cup three times in a row amid dramatic scenes of
emotion as hundreds of fans poured onto the fairway to witness
Darren Clarke be victorious with his golf clubs - just six weeks
after losing his wife to cancer. As well as the emotional impact of
the European team swinging their golf clubs to victory at the Ryder
Cup, it was felt the team captain Ian Woosnam would go down in
history as one of the greatest and inspiring leaders Europe has
ever had.
Record breaking Another inspirational player,
Colin Montgomerie kept his name in the history books by swinging
his golf clubs to a final hole win, holding on to his record in
eight Ryder Cup singles matches. Previous Ryder Cup captain
Bernhard Langer led Europe to a record breaking 18 points to 9 win
in Detroit, and Ian Woosnam inspired his team to fly with their
golf clubs and achieve the exact same score.
Dream come true Eighteen months ago, when they
asked me to be captain, any victory would have been fantastic,
Woosnam told the BBC. To walk away with the same record as Langer
is unbelievable. It is a dream come true for me. I have won a Major
tournament, I've been Number One in the world, but I've got to say,
this is the proudest moment of my life.
Europe 's
strength
Although the American team boasted the top three golf players in
the world, including the number one player who can do no wrong with
his golf clubs, Tiger Woods, Europe had the best team ever
assembled for the Ryder Cup.
Woosnam told the press: I had 12 heroes today, 12 great players.
They all played their part. The European team were so good that US
Captain Tom Lehman was blown away. They played very inspired golf
and around the greens they were magical. I've always felt in the
past that they putt well and they chip well in every Ryder Cup. But
this was something truly exceptional, Lehman told the press. It was
felt all-round that their golf clubs were truly magical at the 2006
Ryder Cup, and that Europe had the strength and depth to take their
winning roll forward to the next tournament in two years in
Kentucky .
Golf Clubs The Movies Films Of The
Millennium
The movies have always shown their appreciation for golf
clubs. Having moved into the 21 st century of film making, golf's
reputation remains high. The Greatest Game Ever Player
(2005) The latest movie to feature the swing of a golf
club was screened in 2005. The Greatest Game Ever Played' is a
biographical sports film directed by Bill Paxton. The film is set
in 1913 and is about an amateur golf player called Francis Quimet
who was expected by all his peers to perform badly at the
forthcoming 1913 U.S. Open golf championships. Quimet had it
drilled into him that he was incapable of competing against
professionals and Francis' father told him that he wasn't allowed
to pursue golf anymore. After getting a once in a lifetime chance,
Francis defies his father's wishes and competes in the tournament.
The movie proves that against all odds, Quimet is able to use his
golf club to eventually beat the British Champions Harry Vardon and
Ted Ray who are considered the world's best golfers at that time.
The film is a test of one boy's physical and mental endurance to
prove to those he loves that he is a successful golfer player.
The main cast featured in The Greatest Game Ever played are listed
below:
- Shia LaBeouf Francis Ouimet
- Stephen Dillane Harry Vardon

golf clubs to perfection. Bobby's passion and dedication to the
game of golf helps him to win the Grand Slam and the U.S., British
and Amateur Opens in golf, all within 4 months of the same year an
achievement which is unparalleled to this day. The film stars:
- Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ, The Thin Red
Line)
- Claire Forlani (Meet Joe Black, The Rock)
- Jeremy Northam (The Singing Detective, Gosford Park, An Ideal
Husband)
A Gentleman's Game (2001) A Gentleman's Game is a
movie that delves into the game of golf and the shortcomings that
cost victories and wind up changing lives. Timmy Price is a 12 year
old boy who has a talent for the game of golf. Realising his son's
talent, Timmy's father arranges for Timmy to take lessons at a
local golf club. Timmy's teacher, Foster Pearse is a local golf
club member who was destined to become a golf star but dropped out
of playing professional golf after winning his first tournament.
Through the help of Foster, Timmy learns more than just technique
and sportsmanship. The movie has an overall uplifting message about
the choices you make in life.

Golf Clubs Ryder Cup Has the Tiger Lost his Stripes
The American team lost the Ryder Cup once again, does Tiger
Woods invest less in the team event than when he's swinging his
golf clubs for solo glory
World number one Tiger Woods may the world
champion and it seems he can do no wrong with his golf clubs, but
when it comes to the Ryder Cup things haven't been so smooth going.
Ryder Cup slur Back in 2002, Woods caused a media
stir when he was quoted in the press saying he didn't understand
why the Ryder Cup was surrounded by so much hype. Maybe you can
shed some light on that Woods asked reporters at the time.
Tiger loses his stripes The American mega-star
uses his golf clubs to thrash just about every tournament he
enters, but his track record on the Ryder Cup is mediocre. Some
critics think his ego and individualism get in the way. He has been
quoted before saying the team format with 18 holes can make the
Ryder Cup a more random game for his golf clubs.
Million
dollar question
He also told the media in 2002 that he'd rather swing his golf
clubs to victory at the $1m World Golf Championships than the Ryder
Cup. When asked why, Woods replied: I can think of a million
reasons why. Although a pun on the prize money, his comments were
felt to devalue the Ryder Cup.
I am not saying the Ryder Cup is not important. It's a completely
different animal, he added stating it was not an individual but a
team effort. You can go there and play absolutely lousy and the
team can win or you can play absolutely great and win all five
matches and lose the Ryder Cup.
Single-mindedness
Perhaps Tiger Woods is not used to taking his golf clubs into a
scenario such as the Ryder Cup where he could lose. Some believe
his single-mindedness comes from his goal to beat Jack Nicklaus'
record of 18 Major titles. Someone asked Woods if he ever felt
sorry for the golfers he beats. He replied with an emphatic no'.
Poor loser It may be frustration that the
individual phenomenon that is Tiger Woods with a set of golf clubs
is not a guaranteed success in the team effort of the Ryder Cup.
Woods doesn't like to lose. Sports commentators wonder whether
there is any game Tiger Woods can't face his golf clubs are the
most intimidating out there but the Ryder Cup continues to elude
his grasp. It's a curious contrast, perhaps proving that old saying
that there's no I' in team'.
Golf Clubs Ryder Cup Historical Background
If you're a golf enthusiast and enjoy swinging your golf
clubs, you'll love watching the Ryder Cup. The Ryder Cup
is one of the last sporting events to be founded on reputation as
opposed to prise money. The Ryder Cup began in 1927 and was played
for the thirty-sixth time this year. It is believed that the
concept of the Ryder Cup was suggested in 1920 by a man called
James Harnett who worked for a publication called Golf Illustrated.
Harnett tried to attract readers by raising funds to pay expenses
for a professional golf match between Great Britain and the USA,
which eventually became the Ryder Cup. The first informal match was
played at Gleneagles Golf Club in Scotland where the British beat
the U.S team 9-3.
In a second unofficial match held in 1926 at Wentworth Golf Club,
the Americans were again defeated by 13 to 1 . A
business entrepreneur and golf enthusiast called Samuel Ryder had
been watching the match and afterwards he met with key British and
American team members who suggested that Ryder provide a cup to
encourage regular matches between both countries. Ryder agreed and
commissioned a gold chalice which had his name and the name of his
golf instructor, British golf star, Abe Mitchell, on the top of it.
The first official Ryder Cup was held in 1927 at the Worcester
Country Club, Massachusetts where the United State's team beat
Great Britain 9 2 . This famous golf match was to
set the president for many years to come.
Few amateurs who took up golf after their 50th birthday have left
as many positive impressions upon the game as Samuel Ryder. Having
made his fortune selling packets of seeds for a penny, Ryder
finally took up golf after being advised to spend more time
outdoors due to overworking. He enlisted Mitchell as his golf
instructor who was considered one of the best players in the UK .
Ryder practiced six days a week for a full year and eventually
became a member of the Verulam Golf Club in 1910 with a six
handicap.
Having watched the 1926 unofficial international match between the
USA and the UK at Wentworth Golf Club, Ryder questioned why the
golf players couldn't get to know each other better and pledged
that he would give a 5 reward to the winning player and
provide a post match party. There followed an appeal for 3,
000 to finance the first British Ryder Cup Team. Unfortunately, the
appeal fell 500 short, but Ryder donated the remainder of
the money to achieve his goal.
Samuel Ryder served two terms as Mayor of St. Albans and lived to
see two Ryder Cups held at golf clubs in his home country. While
celebrating the holidays with his family in London, he died of a
massive haemorrhage on January 2, 1936. He was 77. Ryder's passion
for the game of golf lived on in his youngest daughter, Joan, who
attended matches right up to the age of 81.

Golf Clubs Ryder Cup Media Outrage
Tiger Woods hadn't even unpacked his golf clubs when media
controversy hit the 2006 Ryder Cup.
An Irish magazine, The Dubliner, was in the bad books of the man
with the golden golf clubs, Tiger Woods, and slurred the 2006 Ryder
Cup. The magazine published fake pornographic photos of his wife. A
UK tabloid and the internet also published the pictures.
Ryder Cup Tiger Woods is the world's number one
champion and there were concerns that the negative publicity might
have had an affect on his ability with his golf clubs during the
Ryder Cup tournament. However, although the American team lost to
Europe, many critics felt that Woods played some of his best golf
at the event.
Swimwear model His wife Elin
Nordegren is a former bikini model and she was clearly upset and
said she felt embarrassed by the phoney pictures. Tiger Woods is a
massive celebrity, and as such, his life is scrutinised beyond what
kind of golf clubs he uses and the Ryder Cup is one of the biggest
tournaments in the world.
Unacceptable The unwanted publicity prompted Woods
to make a statement to the press. It's unacceptable and I don't
want it to detract from this event, he said in a news conference at
the Ryder Cup before picking up his golf clubs to play. It's hard
to be diplomatic. Elin's an extension of me. We do things together;
I care about her with all my heart. Woods criticised the media for
being difficult and not letting the facts get in the way of a good
story. Concerns were raised at the K Golf Club if the incident
would affect his play in the Ryder Cup. He was so upset by the
false slur on his wife; he was considering legal action against the
publications in question.
