So says the American Automobile Association, which has released a summer reminder of all the possible costs that come with the increase in driving during the warmer months.

Bad Card Credit Credit People Speeding is next on the list. The costs add up for every 5 mph you travel over 60 mph, the AAA says, potentially adding up to $100 wasted per year.

Bad Credit Rating The AAA says it based its calculations on the same assumptions used by the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation: driving 15,000 miles a year at 25 miles per gallon and paying $1.35 per gallon for gas.
Credit Rating Agency Steve Carrellas, state chapter coordinator for the National Motorists Association, agreed that the way you drive and maintain your car has cumulative effects on gas mileage. But he disputed some parts of the AAA statement, such as the idea that gas mileage generally worsens at speeds above 60 mph.
Credit Rating Canada "This is one of those urban myths," he said, adding that with better aerodynamics and engine transmissions, "it really is no longer a valid assumption that above any particular speed you get markedly poorer gas mileage."
Bad Credit Mortgage Rating "As cars have gotten better and more modern, you can't generalize that kind of thing any more," he said. "You have to look at data for a particular car."
Good Credit Rating He added that gas mileage is better at a highway speed - say, 55 mph - than in stop-and-go traffic, where it's hard to maintain a consistent speed.
